This system of divination, using the lyrics of The Doors, Jim Morrison’s poetry and other things he said, is patterned after the Homeric Oracle of Greco-Roman Egypt, the sortes Virgilium and the lots of the saints so popular in Medieval Europe. So many speak of Morrison as a prophet of Dionysos and a modern-day ἥρως – it only seemed appropriate to provide him with a means of communicating from beyond the grave.
The method is quite simple. First pour a libation to Dionysos and then another for Jim. Then speak your question and roll the bones. 3 rolls or 3 dice will give you a verse — four verses or a quatrain should be sufficient if you require a more complex answer.
